Ali

Ali came to us from a rural breeding facility with little background information. She was placed with an experienced foster carer who discovered that Ali was generally unfamiliar with what we consider everyday life - she was especially spooked by doorways or anything to do with the TV. She refused to come into the house and the first few days were spent on her outside bed on the patio. She would freeze if her carer attempted to take her for a walk.

Ali’s foster carer set up 2 beds, one outside and one inside the house. Treats were placed on both at different times to help encourage Ali to venture inside, and her confidence slowly increased. Food was initially offered outside on the patio, but gradually the dish was moved inside the doorway to get her used to being indoors. Further progress was made with one of our trainers spending the next month quietly working to dispel all the fears and negative associations this little girl had developed.

Now adopted, Ali lives a happier and more enriched lifestyle, loving her walks and social time with other dogs and she has also embraced the challenge to become an experienced camper.
